Domicile Blog on Instagram

My new obsession is Instagram.
I can't stop.
I'm always late to the social media party. I know this has been happening for a while.
Who knew changing a filter and adding a border could make every boring camera phone picture
look like art.

I tried to remember to take pictures while out and about in NYC.

Madeline Weinrib rugs at ABC Carpet and Home.

I'm still thinking about my favorite meal at Jean-Georges Vongerichten's ABC Kitchen
kale salad with lemon, serranos and mint
and
Akaushi cheeseburger with herbed mayo and pickled jalapenos.

 The Evolution Store in SoHo.

While debating with friends at Georgetown Cupcake which one was best
I glanced across the street and saw the exact gray I'm looking to paint my entryway.
I heart NYC.

New York Bound

Hubs and I are off to NYC tomorrow.
I hope to take in The Met, maybe MOMA, get my eat on.

I'm most excited to wander about the city.
After having kids you understand that free time is the ultimate luxury.
So to go about a day with no thought of time...well...
it doesn't get better than that.

I leave you with wise words to contemplate.
Believe it.

Nate Berkus. Again.

Here are before and after pics of Nate Berkus' NYC duplex.

The interior window wall is to die for.
The light is amazing.
I also love the French looking, marble topped island.

I'd rip my kitchen island out in a nanosecond to replace it with something similar
like this one from Crate and Barrel.

ABC Carpet and Home

While in NYC I stopped in ABC Carpet and Home.

Apparently Betsey Johnson had the same idea as me.
I may or may not have followed her up a few floors...I mean...it depends who you ask.
If you ask her she'll say yes I did.
I took this pic on the DL.

This chair was five grand.
No joke.

The place really had everything.
Deer.

Lions.

Bears.

The morning of my flight home
I picked up coffee at LaGuardia figuring it would taste like shit but at least be something.
This pressed coffee in a to-go plastic lid and cup was incredible.
It was almost as good as at home.
God bless NYC.

Abigail Ahern Is Lovely

Abigail Ahern was such an inspiration.
Her masterclass was a feast of knowledge about all things interior.
She broke the class down by rooms
talking devotedly of layering, playing with scale, thinking outside the box, and visual friction.

The second half of the day was advice
on choosing paint colors, mixing patterns, adding texture, finishing touches like rugs and lighting,
and creating a space that expresses who you are,
which as you see here
is true of her London home.

It was a wonderful Saturday getting to know all types of interesting people.
I left the class with a buzz
{celebratory Prosecco toasts abound}
and a fresh confidence that the design world is where I want to be.

The group ate lunch with Abigail at The Breslin inside The Ace Hotel.

4 Days To Go

Four more days and I'll be in NYC with Abigail Ahern.
I'm nervous and excited about what we'll talk about in her masterclass.
It's a deal--
People Magazine will be there and a camera crew and other press to document the day.

No more pussy-footing around.
It's time to put myself out there and tell the universe I'm ready for more.

Masterclass(es)

It's all happening!!!
On August 4th I fly to NYC to meet Abigail Ahern

and attend TWO of her masterclasses
at the too cool for school Ace Hotel in Manhattan.

I couldn't agree more.
