Feathers

I'm obsessed with feathers lately.  

Big time.  

I came across this ostrich feather pendant light while reading my daily blog roll.

I started at Table Tonic, who showed me Hop Interiors, who found the feather light.  

And a big thank you to Tobe, who told me of Lisa Congdon on Etsy, 

which is where I bought this lovely peacock print for my desk.

When I travel my first destination is usually a museum of art.  

I love art.

I especially love when it's affordable which is why I'm in to 20x200. 

Jen Bekman came up with the master plan--200 limited edition prints, $20 each, and two goals:

1.  For everyone to collect art

2.  Enable an economy that allows artists to make a living by making work

Even with a recent price increase it's still inexpensive with pricing ranging from $24 to $2400.

Home Kitchen

I'm planning a new home kitchen design in my mind.
It requires multiple steps...new paint...new table and chairs...maybe a coffee bar.  I'm still mulling it over.  These are my inspiration pictures.

Are rooms ever really finished?  

Life {like people} is constantly moving and changing and evolving.  

Our house is going through a metamorphosis.  

The baby phase of child rearing is ending. Toys no longer dominate every room.  

I can begin to relay, through the interior of our home, how we are as a family--

traditional, modern, casual, diverse, traveled, well loved.  

These are pictures of the family room. 

It's a work in progress. 

Still needing a floor rug, wall art, table accessorizing.

Juju Hats

I love Juju hats.  

Juju hats are worn by Village Chiefs in the Cameroon region of central Africa.  

Some years ago they started to gain popularity with interior designers.  

I would love one above my front door, 

preferably in a bright color.

Shagreen

I was first introduced to shagreen when I lived next door to Lille, 

my favorite place to buy home accessories. Now an online business, owner Lydia Lando 

showed me amazing designers--Lulu DK, John Derian, R & Y Augousti, 

Juliska, Blahblah, Sigikid.

 Hubs bought me the most divine shagreen box by R & Y. 

 Since then, shagreen has remained my favorite animal hide. 

 The stingray has a multi-patterned durable skin. The back bone

 which resembles clusters of white pearls

was thought to be a protector of good luck and prosperity. 

 Early civilizations used stingray skin to fashion armor and handle covers on Samurai swords.

Not knowing then of its history, 

once while visiting Lille I admired a shagreen pedestal table and asked the salesgirl

if water could be spilled on its surface. 

 After looking at me in judgement for a few seconds she replied, 

"Yesss...it's made from stingray afterall...".
