Dining Room Update

I'm back.
My vacation in LA was glorious.
It was pure joy to see my friend, reconnect with her, and hang with her two baby boys and husband.

To add to my buzz, my girlfriend Kiki came to visit me last weekend.
We shopped, smoked like we were high schoolers, and caught up on happenings.
Watch out
because for me right now, it's all rainbows and sunny skies and bear hugs.

Since coming home I've been working on vignettes around the house.
I put a bar in the dining room that sits on a brass tray I found antiquing in Des Moines.
I think the tray was $9 if you can believe.

I'm still looking for lamps to flank either side of the buffet.
The monogrammed barware was my mother in laws.

I also purchased a 19th century Italian mirror for $50 on eBay to go above the buffet,
but shipping has been a pain so who knows when it'll be here.
Hopefully soon.

Eclectic Blue Vintage on Etsy

I recently went back to my hometown
to visit one of my oldest friends and favorite people on earth, Kiki.

Kik and I used to kick it in high school
skipping class, smoking in the parking lot, trading Dave Matthews Band bootlegs--
your typical angst-filled, underage drinking, teenage rebelliousness.
In August Kiki opened  Eclectic Blue Vintage on Etsy,
a web boutique specializing in antique collectables, jewelry, furniture,
and all around vintage loveliness.

We spent most of our time together shopping flea markets and estate sales.
She has a great eye and knows exactly what she wants and what people are looking for.

Eclectic Blue Vintage has been a tremendous success selling to clients all over the world,
but most importantly
its been an outlet to showcase her creative side and venture into a business
that she's passionate about.
Vintage geometric scarf $12

Deer antlers with partial skull $98

 Vintage brass pelican $32

 Vintage books $35

 Vintage industrial office chair $128

 Louden's Mammouth Pulley $48

Vintage Windsor melmac sugar bowl and creamer $10

Vintage Mexican feather art in original carved frame $20

 Vintage 8mm camera, 1962 Minolta $36

Vintage pink bead and crystal clip on earrings $12

Glasbake handled soup bowls $36

Here are some pictures of Kiki's beautiful home.

Old Friend

What a weekend.
There are few things more pleasurable to me than spending time with old friends.

Everything is so easy. Conversation is easy. Silence is easy.
There's something comfortable about knowing all of a persons ins and outs--their family,
their parents, their siblings, their history of friendships and relationships.

A day of talking and eating and running around together comes so naturally. As I get older
I realize I don't like to waste my time with friendships that aren't natural.

Chicago is a beautiful city.
We spent most of our time in Bucktown, which has so changed since Hubs and I lived there.
We ate at Le Bouchon.

We stopped in Pagoda Red.

I fell in love with this chair.

We went to Millennium Park.

Good times.
