Nate Berkus at Jayson Home

On Monday this was in my inbox.

On Tuesday Katherine, Jamie and I headed to Jayson to meet Nate Berkus.
I was disappointed how luke-warm his reaction was towards us.
He wouldn't pose for pics with people {what?}.
You're one of the most adorable human beings on the planet Nate.
Yes we want a picture with you.

The line was five minutes long, by no means hours.
Katherine was all, 'I don't give a shiz if he doesn't want to pose.
It's happening.'
I bust a gut every time I see this.

Jayson Home was the perfect backdrop for the occasion.
They offered everyone cold cans of champagne with striped straws and
waiters walked around with appetizers.

The home goods in this store are sublime.

After shopping we were off to Paris Club for dinner.
Katherine, Me, Jamie.

Lulu DK on Gossip Girl

Hello.
My name is Lindsay and I watch Gossip Girl.
Six years ago my teenage babysitter told me about the show.
Ever since I've been a loyal watcher.
 I'm 36. Shit is sad.

For the last few years
I've watched with disinterest having it play as background noise as I do something else,
but seeing a new office redo for Blair left my mouth agape
stunned by the beauty of it all.

The two office chairs are covered in Lulu DK's Dancers fabric in kelly green.

The set design for Gossip Girl is done by Christina Tonkin
who also worked on Sex and the City.

What a talent.

Thoughtful New York Times Article

I read the best NY Times article here.
Entitled 'A Real Estate Chain of Admiration, Love and Envy'
writer Joel Lovell asks
"if you could kick a friend out of his home and take it for your own, who would it be?"

This article reminded me that a truly enviable home is about a life well lived.
These homes portray that sentiment through their belongings of
furniture, art, books and photographs.

Joel Lovell beautifully states,
"no matter how lovely and exquisitely decorated your home,
there's always something else out there that elicits a longing, not just for someone else's things,
but for the experience that lives in and around those things, the life that created the place."

Agreed.

Grrrrrr.

I grew up in a house where this painting was in the entryway.

My whole life,
a 4'x3' oil painting of tigers.
Being an only child from two only children parents their shit passes down to one person.
Me.
Mom brought this to me last weekend and thought I might like it,
growing up with it and all.
She wondered if I held a bit of sentiment for it from all the years having it around.
I don't.

But I do feel a challenge calling out to me.
If I truly love interior styling I should be able to throw this painting in any room
and make it look good.

Better than good.
Make it so fucking amazing that everyone that sees it will want to run out
and buy their own oil painting of tigers.

So the challenge is on to:
A.  Find a place for it
B.  Have it not look like a porn den

Nate Berkus. Again.

Here are before and after pics of Nate Berkus' NYC duplex.

The interior window wall is to die for.
The light is amazing.
I also love the French looking, marble topped island.

I'd rip my kitchen island out in a nanosecond to replace it with something similar
like this one from Crate and Barrel.
