Mantels 2

Many people find mantels difficult to style.
I think it's because a fireplace is usually a main focal point in a room.
The more I obsess over interiors the more I understand that balance is key when deciding how to arrange anything.
Good balance can make any room feel thoughtful and well designed.

My Favorite Fireplace

This fireplace has everything I love--
interest for days,
layer upon layer of art, color, whimsy, varying textures, personal objects.
It's practical and livable.
Who knew a fireplace could be such an experience.

Fireplace Mantels

Last Friday I saw the stunning new home of my friend Katherine and family.
The whole house is a masterpiece and they've done an amazing job
 furnishing and accessorizing the place.
She has a very large, circular sculpture hanging above her fireplace
and was wondering about adding simple things to the mantel.
Candlesticks, decorative boxes, vases or lanterns, found knick knacks
would add depth, interest, and color.
