Video

This is Hubs idea of good times while playing with our six year old, Medium.
I can't stop laughing.
You can decide for yourself if this is fact or fiction {sadly...fact}.

Jardin Chinois

Shit is on.
Yesterday was dining room wallpaper install day and it was exciting.
Let me just say
thank goodness I hired a professional.
Maybe I could've done it...but I'd STILL be gluing and hanging and cussing and crying as I write this.
The gentleman I hired did none of those things (except the gluing and hanging)
and was done in six hours.

Before
{holes filled/walls prepped}

After

I had the crown and wainscoting painted a warmer white to match the white in the wallpaper.
BM cloud white

It came out exactly how I imagined.
I'm still putting the room back together but I wanted to give you a sneak peek.
Wallpaper is my new jam.

Little Things Make Me Happy

Hubs is off to Japan and China for business
leaving me and the three minions to fend for ourselves for a while.
We manage just fine
but the days are less animated and fun-filled when he's away.
So,
as not to be driven to drink every night,
I'm focused on small things around the house to make me happy besides the obvious scenarios...
babysitters, good books, ice cream, Ambien, etc..

I've been moving my brass pheasants all over the house and finally settled the Mr. on an entry table.
Still looking for a home for Mrs..

I bought these paper roses at West Elm for $3 a stem.

I found this Persian rug for $100 at an antique store.
I love.

I love the smell and taste of citrus.

The blooms on my tiny lemon tree have me hopeful for an actual lemon.

And finally, for those that don't visit Kiki's List
she turned this

 into this

with this.
Shiznit.
That may be happening at my house soon.

New Year, New Rooms

Winter break is over sending kids back to school tomorrow and I couldn't be more thrilled.
I've spent the last two weeks holed up with family.
It feels like months have passed and we've sequestered ourselves on our own private island.
I've never found my girls' ages more enjoyable,
but still I can't wait to get some time on my own and do whatever the hell I want.

Some exciting home projects will be beginning and I can't wait to share them with you.
First off,
dining room wallpaper was delivered.

Hopefully it will look as awesome as this.

I'm also working on a room redo for Large's bedroom, who's eight.
She's outgrown her current room style that looks more nursery than 'older girl'
which is how she refers to herself.
Her room doubles as guest bedroom so I'd like it to be a bit sophisticated, though still a girls room.
I've acquired different pieces here and there for the last few months.
An old mirror for $24 at the local antique mall.

A big bulletin board that will be covered in fabric, to hang pictures and stuff.

An antique writing desk for $99 on eBay.
To paint or not to paint?

Before.
After will be coming soon.

Finally, my entryway/living room/upstairs hallway will be repainted in a couple weeks.
I'm still thinking Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray.
I was worried the house would look too dark because of the family room and kitchen painted
but there's a lot of light throughout the house and as Hubs reminded me,
I always regret not going bolder.

Have I mentioned that we've lived in this house for four years and this will be the third time the same area has been repainted?
Therefore making it go time...go bold or go home.
