While amassing new images on Pinterest this morning I came across this living room.
It's nothing like I've ever seen.
The overhead lighting looks like a massive art installation...I am in to it.

Christmas Eve

Food, baked goods and family have me in a thankful spirit for the holidays.
Yesterday my mother by law gave me a lesson in lasagna making that was fun and informative.
Nana is old school Italian.
She is feisty and funny and a damn good cook.
She hosts us for Christmas Eve.

Nana is obsessed with small sized things.
Take for example:

And it runs in the family since these are sister by law's cookies.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

My mom and her husband are looking to rid themselves of basement junk they've had for years.
I took a look at the goods while visiting and came home with these
two busty besties.

Also this brass vase from Indonesia which looks perfect on my new kitchen table.

someone else's junk = my new treasures

Side note:  How did I exist without Instagram (@domicileblog)? I'm obsessed.

I can't stop thinking of the unspeakable tragedy that happened yesterday.

While I enjoyed a day with my mom and Small, Christmas shopping and wandering about town,
people in Newtown were experiencing the most horrific day of their lives.

But I guess that happens every day all over the world-
some people suffer and sacrifice
while others go on in comfort and complacency enjoying their bubble.
It's sad. And unfair.

Obviously I need to close this post down since Debbie Downer is in full swing.

I just wanted to say that
I feel incredible sadness for the families in Newtown who are mourning the loss of a loved one.
I hope they're able to do what they need to get through the days
and breathe.

A Kelly Wearstler Holiday

A holiday table by one and only, Kelly Wearstler,
proving yet again that its Kelly's fantasyland and we're all just living in it.

All I Want for Christmas... a Chesterfield sofa.

But if you have trouble finding the perfect color sofa, Santa, I'll also take...

...Louis Vuitton hardtop suitcases. Or trunks.
I mean, whatever's easiest.

Oh, and I've also dreamed of owning one of these.
in ecru/light gray, please.

Week In Review

Found the perfect sized lamp at Home Goods to fit on an awkward bump-out on kitchen counter.
I've wanted a lamp on my counter ever since I saw Ina Garten's barn kitchen remodel.

Got up my collection of blue and white plates.
Eventually they'll sprawl out over the door archway.

The start of the week had temperatures in the 60's.
We broke out the sidewalk chalk and drew like there was no tomorrow.
This was Medium's hop scotch that stretched to 40.
She was serious.

Medium also brought home this drawing of a lion which goes well with her family portrait.

Last night we went to our local skating rink for family night.
I hadn't been on skates since elementary school.
Growing up in Des Moines
my friends and I hung at Skate West roller rink and I thought I was the mayor,
but that was before the germinating of tiny humans in my uterus.
I was shaky at first but eventually got my sea legs.
It was good times.

This is breakfast today:
Americano and lightly toasted panettone with butter.
My mother by law is Italian and gets us a loaf of this sweet bread with dried fruit every Christmas.
